Prior to WSP, Jim was Chairman, President, and CEO of Cairnstone, an MGU he founded and scaled into the largest independent organization in its segment. Following its acquisition by Munich Re in 2007, he remained with Munich Re Stop Loss until his retirement in 2008.
Earlier, Jim founded Alden Risk Management Services (ARMS), an entrepreneurial subsidiary of John Alden Life Insurance Company, where he built and managed multiple start-up health insurance ventures. Under his leadership, ARMS became a major growth engine, generating over $200 million in revenue and employing 200 people. He also founded John Alden International, focused on medical reinsurance in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Jim began his career in senior roles at John Alden Life Insurance Company, including Vice President of Claims and Vice President of Group Health Operations.
He is a graduate of the Stanford Executive Program, a Master Fellow of the Life Management Institute, and holds a BA from the University of Miami. His academic interests include history, literature, and world religions.
